Chapter 4: Working Remotely from Outside the College

Introduction

face Josiah Wang Tom Crossland

This final part can be done as homework – and, in fact, is better done as homework (literally, do it at home!).

So far you have connected from one lab machine to another, within the college network. Here is a complete list of lab machines in our department that you can access remotely.

But these machines are only accessible from within the college network.

Sometimes you might want to connect to the lab machines from home, or from a cafe, or wherever else you like to work.

How can you do this?

This exercise is best done on your own machine, and ideally outside the college network.

You can do it in the lab too if you like, although the aim is for you to understand how to connect remotely when you’re not on campus.
